Sale Review: The Line
I had the opportunity to get a preview of The Line sample sale that will take place at 260 Sample Sale. For those who do not know The Line is a space with a modern and personal approach to retail.
“The idea was always to create a high touch retail experience, but have it be service-based. We set out to create a lifestyle brand and put product in a novel setting." - Vanessa Traina
The "Apartments" are guided by a distinctive point of view that prizes craftsmanship, versatility, and ease, we bring together carefully chosen products from established and emerging designers. They sell fashion, home, and beauty items. You will find designers such as Lem Lem, Marni, and Proenza Schouler to name a few.
Of course this would not translate into a sample sale space, but I was happy to take a peak of the assortment that would be available for up to 75% off.
All clothing, accessories, and footwear are 70% off at the sale currently. I spotted an assortment of brands including Acne Studios, Altuzzarra, Loewe, Edun, Proenza Schouler, Alexander Wang, Lemaire, MM6 Martin Margiela, Vetements, and Protagonist. Most of the assortment appears to be from the Fall 2016 lines of these brands.
To the right of the room facing the back were body suits, blouses, and T-shirts ranging in neutral every day colors and basic silhouettes. Few pieces include a surprising drap, knot, or cutout. You could find Vince, Edun, Alexander Wang, Calvin Klein, and more...
All shoes at the sale were 70% off as I mentioned previously. They were located in the back of the room, as per usual at 150 Greene st. Brands I saw included Newbark, Manolo Blahnik, Pierre Hardy, Acne Studios, lots of Tabitha Simmons and Altuzarra. There were a few pair of Vetements boots, but I think I bought the last one for my client (sorry).
There was a minimal selection of accessories, beauty, and home products in the sale. Jewlery was by Min Yu Wang and Charlotte Chesnais. 4 nail polish colors by Jin Soon were available. I would really only say 3, because the 4th was a top coat to create Matte finishes. There were only 2 Proenza Schouler bags and 4 straw totes for sale when I arrived. There was one fragrance Regime des Fleurs in Mirrors. This bold yet fresh “Lyric” perfume they created especially for The Line (I actually loved it and bought 2).
Here are a few pieces that I personally liked at the sale below. I also bought my client a great shirt dress you can see on Instagram,
