Ganni + Gender Reveal
If you follow me on Instagram you already know I have been searching for the perfect leopard dress. I saw myself taking inspiration from the Spring/Summer 2018 runway of Prada, pairing with neon socks and strappy sandals or knee high socks and velcro sneakers. When Saks Fifth Avenue sent me a email about markdowns in their current sale, I immediately jumped at the chance to purchase my first Ganni piece.
I loved the flow of this dress, perfect for spring days. The keyhole detail added a hint of sexy, since the dress was long-sleeved. Please note I am only 5' 3", so on someone taller this dress may be really short. I paired it with the infamous dad sneakers and my go-to raffia bag at the moment. I completed my look on this sunny day with tortoise shell colored shades and a bright orange matte lip.
This was the perfect look to go along with snapping pictures and learning the sex of my baby; known to many as the gender reveal!
Prior to me learning the actual sex of my baby I used a number of different wives tales and predictor resources in hopes of preparation.
- Chinese gender calendars based on your age and conception dates
- Nub theory based on sonogram photos looking at the angle on the genital tubercle.
- Tracking the pattern of my morning sickness - I had almost none
- Food cravings - I wanted salty foods
- My general appearance; carry high/low, nose spreading, etc...
All signs were pointing to a boy and I prepared for the role of a #boymom . I opted not to do a blood test, for the additional cost and instead waited for my 20 week anatomy sonogram to receive confirmation....
If the balloons don't give it away; Baby Rush is actually a healthy girl. In hindsight one thing I wish I did was take the Sneak Peek test. It allows you to find out the gender of your baby beginning at only 9 weeks. You are able to use it in the privacy of your home, and get the results with 72 hours! The weeks of waiting and extra planning; it would have saved me.
Overall, happy all is well up until now. I am so excited for all the mommy and me dressing, sass, and girly smiles to come. And I will definitely be wearing this dress again with my neon sock and heels once these feet stop swelling.
